First Memory

My first memory was my first day of kindergarten. I remember being so excited to attend the same school as my big brother. I laid my purple Fila Sweat suit on the bed and matching sneakers at the foot of the bed the night before my first day. That night I barely slept a wink, but still had so much energy in the morning. I woke up to the smell of breakfast in the morning, Farina. I could never describe the smell but it did make our apartment smell sweet. My mom, brother and I walked to school the weather wasn't to cold or to hot it was just perfect. I seen other children walking with their parents to school, wondering if they were going to be attending the same school as me. It felt like I was thinking about everything all at once. I wonder if my teacher is nice, are the kids nice etc. We reached the school and there were so many children having fun. Playing hop scotch on the dull paint on the ground. A teacher blew her whistle to get our attention, its time to go in. My classroom had a bright red door. Entering the classroom felt like entering a whole new world much to big for a little person like me. As soon as we all entered there was a brown desk and on top of the desk was white pieces of paper with our names written in black bold marker, we had to pick our names out and that confirmed if we new the spelling of our name. I remember being so nervous. I could literally feel the butterflies in my stomach, but I wasn't sure why.I knew how to spell my name. That day was the first day I realized I was  shy, So shy I began to cry. The classroom was so quite the only thing I heard was my teachers soft voice and it calmed me. After I picked out my name I sit on what seemed to be a giant circle rug, we sang and played for the rest of the day. This was my first memory.
